Title: Understanding the Geography of Wildlife Use in the Face of Urbanization (2024–2027)

This project explores the intersection of food security, urbanization, and access to natural resources, particularly wildlife. By surveying diverse communities along the rural-urban gradient, researchers examine how social and economic factors shape access to wildlife and influence food insecurity. The study also develops innovative survey methods to elicit reliable data on sensitive behaviors. Through interdisciplinary political ecology approaches, secondary data analyses provide insights into wildlife consumption patterns relative to urbanization and conservation efforts. Findings are shared with conservation organizations and local partners, contributing to policy discussions. The project also offers valuable training opportunities for students in sustainability research.
