Governing Indigenous food systems
Completed
Title: Governing Indigenous food systems: Global practices and local realities in Sri Lanka (2022-2024)
This project aims to understand Indigenous food system governance with two main objectives: 1) to synthesize documented knowledge at a global level, and 2) to examine governance at a local level through a multi-sited case study in Sri Lanka. Using 143 peer-reviewed articles and conducting 114 semi-structured interviews across six Vedda communities, the study identified key governance characteristics and explored their application locally, advocating for governance methods that integrate global guidelines with local traditions to enhance food security for Indigenous populations.
