Marine Debris Accumulation in Coastal Areas
Completed
Title: Marine Debris Accumulation in Coastal Areas (2022-2023)
This project addresses gaps in understanding marine debris accumulation in coastal areas, undermining progress toward SDG 14 (Life Below Water) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production). Through a systematic literature review, we synthesize global research, identify key issues, and develop an evidence database to support future research and education. Key outcomes include a peer-reviewed publication and a “living” repository of data to inform sustainable marine debris management. This initiative lays the foundation for a larger project and aligns with NSF’s sustainability-focused climate adaptation research.
