Participatory Visual Methods with Inuit
Completed
Title: Opportunities for adaptation to climate change: A comparative analysis of Indigenous fisheries systems in the Canadian Arctic and Eastern Sri Lanka (2017-2018)
This project uses participatory visual methods to examine Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (traditional knowledge) of ocean social-ecological sustainability. Involving Inuit in co-creating knowledge through participatory artwork fosters knowledge exchange among youth and facilitates discussions on resilience and sustainability. The project also broadens dialogue by amplifying Inuit perspectives, contributing to a shared vision for Canada’s oceans. This collaborative approach strengthens community engagement, highlights Inuit leadership in ocean stewardship, and bridges Indigenous and scientific knowledge systems to promote sustainable marine conservation and governance.
